What is a cookie / cookies?

Cookies are small files that are saved and stored on your local computer or other device as you visit various Web sites on the Internet.
A “cookie” usually contains:

basic information about the name of the Web site from which it came,
“lifespan” of the cookie – that is, what is the set time of its existence on your computer,
a randomly generated unique number used to identify the browser from which the connection to the Web site is made.

“Cookies” (so-called “cookies”) are computer data, in particular text files, which are stored on the final device of the WWW user. Cookies are most often used to optimize the process of using the WWW pages. They are also used to collect statistical data, which allow to identify how users use the websites. This gives the possibility to improve the structure and content of the WWW site later on.
“Cookies” can be divided, among others, into session (temporary) and permanent ones. “Session cookies” are stored on the user’s device until the user logs out of the website or shuts down the web browser. “Cookies” permanent are stored for a defined period of time, which is determined by the parameter contained in the “cookie” file. The user also has the option to manually delete all or selected “cookies”.

Google is moving away from cookies as early as 2024. How to promote a company without cookies?
The software used to browse the Web allows cookies to be placed on the end device by default. The user can make the appropriate configuration of the browser to block the automatic acceptance of “cookies” or to obtain each time the file is sent to the user’s device. Proper information about the handling of “cookies” and possible configurations, is available in the browser settings.
The level of restrictions on the use of “cookies” may affect the availability and functionality offered on the website, up to the point of blocking the possibility of its proper use. Failure to change the settings regarding “cookies” means that they will be placed on the user’s terminal device.

What can cookies be used for?

Cookies may be used for:

- adapting the content of websites to user preferences and optimizing the process of using websites – in particular, these files allow you to recognize the device of a website user and appropriately display the website, tailored to his individual needs,
- creation of statistics, which help to understand how users of the website use the websites, which allows to improve their structure and content,
- maintain the session of the website user (after logging in), thanks to which the user does not have to re-enter his/her login and password on each sub-page of the website
- provide users with advertising content more tailored to their interests.

What can disabling cookies on my browser do?

Disabling the use of “cookies” may cause difficulties related to the use of some services on the websites, in particular those requiring a login. However, disabling the option of accepting “cookies” does not result in the inability to read or view content posted on the website – with the exception of those whose access requires logging in.
