What is a cookie / cookies?
A “cookie” usually contains:
- basic information about the name of the Web site from which it came,
- “lifespan” of the cookie – that is, what is the set time of its existence on your computer,
- a randomly generated unique number used to identify the browser from which the connection to the Web site is made.
“Cookies” (so-called “cookies”) are computer data, in particular text files, which are stored on the final device of the WWW user. Cookies are most often used to optimize the process of using the WWW pages. They are also used to collect statistical data, which allow to identify how users use the websites. This gives the possibility to improve the structure and content of the WWW site later on.
“Cookies” can be divided, among others, into session (temporary) and permanent ones. “Session cookies” are stored on the user’s device until the user logs out of the website or shuts down the web browser. “Cookies” permanent are stored for a defined period of time, which is determined by the parameter contained in the “cookie” file. The user also has the option to manually delete all or selected “cookies”.

The software used to browse the Web allows cookies to be placed on the end device by default. The user can make the appropriate configuration of the browser to block the automatic acceptance of “cookies” or to obtain each time the file is sent to the user’s device. Proper information about the handling of “cookies” and possible configurations, is available in the browser settings.
The level of restrictions on the use of “cookies” may affect the availability and functionality offered on the website, up to the point of blocking the possibility of its proper use. Failure to change the settings regarding “cookies” means that they will be placed on the user’s terminal device.
